About Grid Guardian

We've all taken young children to big events, and we've all spent most of those days in one of three modes. You hover, and nobody enjoys themselves. You give them some freedom and spend the whole afternoon anxious. Or you accept a level of risk you are not really comfortable with and hope you are being sensible about it.

The hard part is that in the moment your child is out of sight, you cannot tell which situation you are in. They are almost always behind the next stall. Occasionally they are not. You cannot know that from where you are standing, and it is the not knowing that takes the day away from you, far more than the rare occasion when something actually goes wrong.

Nothing on the market solved it. A phone is no use to a five year old. AirTags were built to find keys and static objects, and rely on somebody else's phone passing nearby. A wristband with a number written on it only helps once a stranger has already found your child. We wanted the simple thing, which is knowing where our own kids were right now, and it did not exist as something you could walk up to at an event and use.

So we built it, and it turns out a lot of other parents want the same thing.

Grid Guardian was founded by two parents and is run by the two of us out of Melbourne.

We are on site for every deployment. If you contract us for your event, the people setting up the kiosk are the people you dealt with. All our staff, including casual staff we bring on for longer events, hold current Working with Children Checks.

We delete everything within seven days because there is no reason to keep it. We do not have a data business and we would rather not be holding a list of children's names and their parents' phone numbers any longer than the job requires.

And we tell every parent that the service supports their supervision rather than replacing it. That is true, and a service that encouraged parents to pay less attention would be worse than no service at all.
